POLYURETHANE BEEHIVE
Polyurethane (PUR) makes the hive three times lighter than the wooden hive and 10 times more thermally insulating (1.5 cm PUR = 15 cm fir wood). The PUR hive resists very well to the aggression of environmental factors: wind, precipitation, frost, heat; it does not absorb water, does not rot, does not crack, does not provide an environment for the development of bacteria and harmful insects. The polyurethane hive is very well accepted by the bees, and thanks to the excellent thermal insulation, in winter the bees consume less food, stay healthy, live longer, and in spring the family develops strongly. In hot weather, bees don’t have to ventilate the hive. Energy savings due to thermal insulation are used by bees for colony development and production. Literature data shows that in PUR hives production increases by about 30%.
Beehive models
The design of our beehives is modular and compact. Anti-roll socket; three sizes of bodies consisting of removable walls and cover. The overlapping surfaces of the hive components (bottom, hive bodies, cover) have a profile that prevents the penetration of rainwater and reduces the risk of crushing the bees. Ventilation is provided by slots in the lid profile. The fly board is also the door for closing the grate.
V10 and V12 beehive
The V10-V12 hive is mostly made of rigid PUR with a density of 130-140 kg/cubic meter. The hive also includes a series of parts made of thermoplastic materials and stainless metals or metals treated against rust. Finally, we would like to emphasize that we use carefully selected materials and modern machinery in the manufacture of the hives, which ensure the quality, reproducibility and interchangeability of all component parts.
Swarm Box
The balm V6 (3+3) is made of PUR, with 20 mm wall thickness. The hive is designed to accommodate a family of bees on 6 frames or 2 families on 3 frames each. The separation of the debris into two enclosures is done with a movable diaphragm. Each enclosure is equipped with a flight hatch.

Maintenance and repairs
No matter how much care is given to the beehive, a series of defects will appear during operation, such as: impact marks, chipped edges, tears, perforations. In the case of the PUR hive, these defects can be repaired very easily. Most of the time without having to empty the hive. For example: Knocks or chips on the external surfaces are repaired by grouting. For small surfaces we recommend the use of water-based wood glues; for larger hits we recommend the use of polyurethane or polyester putties. The working instructions found on the packaging of the respective putties will be respected.
